How To Create Effective Content For Fashion and Beauty Brands

It is so frustrating as a fashion or beauty business owner to spend hours working on content and not getting the results that you are looking for. You’re putting in the work to show up consistently online, but you’re not able to reach your business goals. It’s time to create content that is intentional and aligns with your business goals.

To create more effective content, you need  to set specific goals for each piece of content that you put out for your brand. One of the reasons why business owners get discouraged by content creation is because they expect every piece of content to get high engagement, get sales, expand their reach, etc. Different types of content are better suited for different business goals. To have a more effective content strategy, it is essential to be intentional about each piece of content.

For example, let’s say that a fashion brand owner is creating a content strategy for Instagram. Their current business goals are building brand awareness and increasing brand loyalty. In order to support these goals, they should focus on creating content that expands their reach and is highly engaging. Here are some content examples that would align with their business goals:

  • An Instagram Live with a fashion influencer within the fashion brand’s  same niche.

    • This will expand their reach to that influencer’s followers, bring some new people within their target audience into their community. 

  • Post a relatable quote graphic to their feed (one that is relevant to the fashion brand’s target audience and business).

    • Relatable quotes can be highly engaging. The brand’s audience will be more likely to share the graphic to their stories, expanding their brand’s reach to that person’s followers. With the right call to action, they can also get more comments, likes, shares, and/or saves. 

  • Post a reel showing off different outfits with the fashion brand’s products.

    • Reels get pushed out to a wider audience on Instagram than any other type of content on Instagram. Reels are great types of content to post to expand their reach and grow brand awareness.

When mapping out your content strategy, think about what will be most beneficial to your business at that point in time. Are you in the beginning stages of your business and want to get more eyes on your brand? Creating content with the goal of expanding your reach and/or engaging content would be beneficial. Do you want to focus on building a loyal community around your brand and increase brand retention? Content that focuses on building relationships and relatable content would be ideal. Are you launching a new product and/or collection? Create content centered around the benefits of your products and building hype for your launch. 

While you want to post a variety of content, be strategic about what types of content you are primarily posting.  When you create content that focuses on reaching your business goals, you get to turn that feeling of frustration into confidence in your online presence and you can move your business forward!
